The Kingsbury County Highway Department presented competitive bids for fuel, asphalt mixes, gravel crushing, road oil and quartzite at the March 3 meeting. After staff recommendation, the board accepted Vollan Oil for fuel; accepted all asphalt mix bids to be used based on availability and job type; approved Rechnagel Construction for gravel crushing ($2.35/ton for 3/4-inch); accepted Jebro for road oil; and accepted Spencer Quarries for quartzite.
Superintendent Dave Sorenson told the Board he recommended accepting Vollan’s fuel bid and using multiple asphalt bidders depending on availability. The motions approving the individual bids were recorded as unanimous; the minutes list specific per-ton bid prices for asphalt and noted Sorenson’s recommendation to accept suppliers as presented.
