Kingsbury County awards $3.29 million contract for 425th Avenue reconstruction

The Kingsbury County Board of County Commissioners voted March 3 to award the 425th Avenue reconstruction contract to Asphalt Paving & Materials Co. for $3,287,773.31. The motion, made by Commissioner Roger Walls and seconded by Commissioner Steve Spilde, carried with all five commissioners voting aye.
Highway Superintendent Dave Sorenson presented bid results from a February 24 opening run by Civil Design, Inc.; bids received ranged from Asphalt Paving’s low bid of $3,287,773.31 up to $3,950,736.54 from Rounds Construction, Inc. Andrew Kangas of Civil Design, Inc. told the Board the contract sets substantial completion for Aug. 7, 2026 and final completion for Sept. 4, 2026. The Board also discussed a related request from Redstone Dairy for improvements to 215th Street; Sorenson said core sample results will be required before any further work on that request.
The project award was documented in the minutes as a formal contract award; the Board also approved staying with Civil Design, Inc. for the county's 2026 Bridge Reinspection Program, a related highway oversight activity. The county will proceed with contract execution and scheduling per the project timeline announced at the meeting.
