Kingsbury County approves study with Riverview LLC to coordinate road work near Redstone Dairy; 425th Ave bids scheduled

The Kingsbury County Board directed Riverview LLC and Highway Superintendent Dave Sorenson to coordinate timelines, engineering and funding responsibilities for road improvements tied to Redstone Dairy.
Josh Schmidt of Riverview LLC met with the board to review possible improvements beyond the already planned 425th Ave project. Sorenson rejoined the meeting to provide technical input. The board approved proceeding with the State Planning & Research study on the condition that Sorenson coordinate with Riverview to ensure the study does not duplicate private plans (motion by Troy Nelson, second by Kyle Lee).
Sorenson told the board the county’s highway bid opening is scheduled for March 3, 2026 at 9:00 A.M., and reminded commissioners that bids for the 425th Ave project will be opened Feb. 24, 2026 at Civil Design, Inc. in Brookings. Sorenson also presented Right-of-Way Occupancy applications from East River for CR11 and CR2 (boring); the board authorized Vice Chairman Lundquist to sign the applications. Travel for Sorenson to attend a highway conference in Deadwood March 17–20, 2026 was also approved.
