Commissioners authorize RFQ for Hays Building space study as JFS prepares to vacate second floor

The board authorized a request for statements of qualifications to select an architect for a space study and renovations at the Hays Building (Resolution 26-523). John Melvin, director of facilities, said the RFQ will revisit a 2023 space study and prepare design work so construction can begin after JFS vacates the second floor.
Melvin told commissioners the county expects substantial completion on related shared-services buildings by the end of next September and anticipates being ready to start construction on Hays Building renovations in early 2028. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved by recorded vote.
