The council considered Resolution 89, which approves a workers' compensation settlement agreement and release of claims. City staff and the city attorney stressed the confidentiality of the personnel-related matter and declined to provide public details beyond confirming a settlement arrangement.
"Due to the confidentiality nature of this, I kinda have to be careful of what we say, but there is a compensation workers' comp claim, settlement that had been released... we're bound by those confidentiality requirements with settlements," the city manager said. The city attorney confirmed his office and outside counsel had been involved and said if council desired more consideration they could meet in closed session with counsel.
Council proceeded to consider the resolution with the available confidential confirmations and indicated the city's insurer/claims administrator (IMWCA) was handling the disbursement process.
