Brenda and Philip Timmons asked the board for several setback variances at 20826 Lagoon Street N so they could connect their cabin and garage and make the house accessible for retirement living. Brenda Timmons told the board the work would make the home ‘‘handicap accessible and having zero entry as this will be their retirement home.’'
Board members asked about drainage concerns and a wet spot caused by a neighbor’s downspout; Philip Timmons said they would install tiling around the house to address the issue and would rebuild the railroad ties noted on the site. After hearing from staff (including Beck Engineering representative Stacey Tegmeier) and reviewing correspondence, Kirby Berhow moved to vote and Susan Clark seconded. The motion passed 5-0 (Ashland, Clark, Oponski, Westerman, Berhow), approving the requested variances.
The applicants said they are staying within the existing footprint. The board’s approval allows the accessibility improvements to proceed subject to normal permitting.
