Miss Johnson presented June building‑inspection numbers: 13 new home permits, 68 other permits (garages, carports, electrical/plumbing/mechanical), five certificates of occupancy, and monthly fees of $11,803.82 with an estimated construction value of $2,823,716. Year‑to‑date totals included 48 new homes and nearly $60,000 in fees with an estimated value approaching $5 million. In planning project updates she said multiple solar projects have reached structural completion and others remain in state‑permit review.
On the BOOM—which stands for Building Opportunities on Main Street—Miss Johnson said the Courthouse District received an Exploring Main Street designation that enables grant funding for consultants to provide market research to property owners at no cost; staff announced a community visioning walk on Sept. 10. The consultants will examine five underutilized structures and provide free information to owners about potential redevelopment options.
