Residents press developer on wetlands, tree loss and reforestation plan

At the June 25 public‑input meeting, multiple residents focused on the site’s environmental features, saying the proposed density and grading threaten wetlands, streams and mature forest. "We are only going to establish one of reforestation?" asked a nearby resident when Morris & Ritchie's team said 1.4 acres of onsite reforestation is proposed; developers said roughly two acres would be cleared and about 1.4 acres would be reforested as part of the plan.
Residents and a wildlife photographer urged the applicant to minimize clearing, strengthen buffers and avoid routing pedestrian trails through sensitive wetland buffers. The applicant replied that wetland, stream and buffer impacts are regulated by the State and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and that the project will pursue required permits and meet Harford County and State environmental site‑design standards for stormwater management.
