Committee unanimously tasks city planner to evaluate 4–5 candidate sites with utilities, annexation and acreage parameters

Committee member motioned — and the group unanimously approved — that Kyle Long research at least four candidate properties (including those raised in public comment) and return with maps, utilities, annexability, flood‑zone and sale‑status information plus acreage estimates and a scoring recommendation at the next meeting.
Committee member Mr. Gilliard moved "to request that Kyle Long be able to research possible properties with all parameters that are open to bring back to us 4 or 5 properties," which Mister Hughes seconded. The motion was amended during discussion to include specific screening parameters such as acreage minimums, annexation or annexability, availability of water and sewer, flood zone status and the commercial tradeoffs of using a parcel for government facilities.
Committee members debated minimum acreage; staff recommended a practical starting point of 15 acres to allow for buildings, parking and stormwater retention. The amended motion passed unanimously. Chair Gary Delatorre said staff will return with maps, photos and a recommended scoring matrix to support an objective review at the next meeting.
The committee directed that the evaluation explicitly note whether candidate parcels are for sale or might be obtainable through alternatives such as land swaps or donations, and asked staff to flag any parcels in flood zones or lacking utility access.
