Tunbridge voters approve budgets, create planning fund and elect officers at March 3 town meeting

By voice votes recorded as “All aye,” the meeting approved the general fund operating budget of $924,977 (of which $510,627 will be raised by taxes), a highway fund budget of $1,313,318 (of which $1,163,968 will be raised by taxes), and several governance and administrative articles. The meeting also created a Planning Fund to support updates to the Town Plan and Hazard Mitigation Plan, authorized the Town Treasurer to collect current taxes under 32 V.S.A. § 4791, and set Monday, Nov. 2, 2026 as the tax payment date with delinquent interest rules pursuant to 32 V.S.A. § 5136.
Selectboard Chair Gary Mullen and Moderator Israel Provoncha led routine reports from town officers and commissions; the meeting concluded with election of town officers for the coming year (nominations motioned and approved by voice vote). Treasurer Rebecca Hoyt noted Tunbridge’s fiscal position during the meeting, saying, “We are a debt free town.” The meeting also amended and approved an increase to a social‑service appropriation for Safeline and approved a five‑year property tax exemption package for local nonprofit entities as amended.
The meeting adjourned at 1:36 p.m.; most votes were taken by voice with unanimous (aye) tallies recorded in the minutes.
