The Las Vegas City Council on July 29 approved Resolution 26-39, a final budget adjustment for fiscal year 2025–26 designed to correct an audit finding and reallocate funds for emergency services and other carryovers. Councilor Marvin Martinez moved the motion and Councilor Benito Pacheco seconded; the roll call recorded Councilors Barbara Casey, Marvin Martinez and Benito Pacheco voting yes and the motion carried.
Finance Director Morris Madrid, who presented the item, said the adjustment "is mainly to address a finding in our audit," noting one fund had been overexpended and that the adjustment would avoid repeating that finding. He also said the budget increases include funding for the emergency medical services fund and a reversion-related adjustment in the law enforcement fund. Regarding FEMA support, Madrid said the city received generators funded through FEMA and DHSCM and that some of those costs had already been incurred and must be budgeted to avoid over-expenditure.
The council approved the resolution by roll call after brief discussion and the motion carried. The council moved on to subsequent budget items after the vote.
