Selectboard opts for paper-backed insulation and 3-hour fire door for new town office vault

At the Oct. 15 pre-bid meeting for the Town of Eden office addition, Joe Greene of Joseph Architects and contractors reviewed floorplans and insulation options and examined a sample insulating material intended for vault walls. Contractors raised moisture and ventilation concerns about the originally recommended insulation wrap; the group agreed to use paper-backed insulation that allows for airflow.
The participants also discussed vault access and security. Instead of a heavy-duty vault door, the board and contractors agreed a 3-hour fire-resistant door with a lock would meet the project’s needs while reducing cost. The meeting record notes that the vault-wall insulation will need to meet specific specifications, which were reviewed during the meeting.
