During public comment, Rose asked the Selectboard to expand the skateboard ordinance to include electric scooters, e-bikes and other motorized, non-pedaled personal vehicles because of observed safety risks now that school is back in session. "I think it would be a really, really good idea... to maybe take the skateboard ordinance and expand it to include electric or nonman powered vehicles," she said, adding she has frequently observed riders who are not paying attention and are endangering others.
Board members discussed enforcement and the need to revisit zoning and other related ordinances. Staff and members agreed the topic should be re-examined and that crosswalk signage and safety near the downtown park and school deserve priority attention before the next similar event.
