On Jan. 22 the Fayston Conservation Commission recorded an annual $500 contribution to the Mad River Valley (MRV) Bear Initiative and confirmed that the town report had been submitted. Commissioners noted the 2025 MRVBI budget includes funds to purchase bear-proof toters and receptacles for valley locations and funding for a story contest to encourage participation; the contest will be promoted at the summer farmers market to boost local engagement.
Commissioners discussed ongoing collaboration with MRV partners to implement bear-proofing measures and outreach to residents about secure food-storage options. The contribution is an annual FCC allocation to the regional initiative.
