Town planner: Cohasset’s SHI unchanged at 337 units; two properties under review

Cassandra Thayer, Cohasset’s Town Planner, told the Affordable Housing Trust on April 1 that the town’s Subsidized Housing Inventory (SHI) has not changed in the past month and remains at 337 total units, representing 10.38% of year-round housing units. "There have not been any properties added to the SHI in the past month," Thayer said, and noted two sites the Trust is monitoring.
Thayer said paperwork was recently submitted to the state for the rental units at 1 Pleasant Street; if the submission is approved by the state, it would add 14 units to the town’s SHI. She also described the property at 147 S Main Street as "in limbo," reporting that foreclosure activity is paused and that the town is awaiting further guidance from state officials. Thayer added that, if ownership changes and the affordable-housing component is not secured under new ownership, occupancy permits would not be issued until that component is resolved.
The update was presented as an informational item; no motions or votes were taken on the SHI report. The Trust’s next meeting in May will include follow-up items if the state responds on either property.
