Fayston Conservation Commission approves minutes, reviews ARPA allocations and operating budget

The Fayston Conservation Commission met on Jan. 22, 2025 at the Fayston Municipal Office and approved its Dec. 17, 2024 minutes. Pete Colgan moved to approve the minutes and Andrea Henderson seconded; all members present voted in favor.
Commissioners reviewed FY2024 financials, reporting $1,401 in operating expenditures out of an available $1,500. Members discussed ARPA-funded work approved by the Selectboard, including full utilization of the amount allocated to the Pilot Knotweed Project, funds for picnic tables at McCullough Barn purchased from Lamoille Woodworking, and planned spending on a Wildlife Crossing in coordination with Arrowwood Consulting. The Selectboard’s minutes from Dec. 4, 2024 show the board approved the ARPA allocations and proposed level funding for the Conservation Reserve ($3,500) and Town Forest Reserve ($12,000) for the coming year; the Selectboard also questioned whether the Town Forest Reserve is the appropriate line for routine FCC operating expenses and urged the commission to spend down reserves while establishing a discrete FCC operating line for 2026.
Brian Litmans and Andrea Henderson noted they will meet with the Selectboard on Jan. 28, 2025 and encouraged full FCC attendance. The commission also discussed improving Zoom meeting setup and agreed that Brian will coordinate a quarterly newsletter with member contributions. The next FCC meeting is scheduled for Feb. 26, 2025 at 5:45 p.m. Brian made a motion to adjourn; Pete seconded, and the meeting concluded.
