ZBA approves Route 7 privacy fence permit at 3395 Route 7

The Ferrisburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment voted unanimously to approve a site-plan review permit for a privacy fence at 3395 Route 7 during its Nov. 5 meeting.
Applicant Joseph Owen told the board the fence will be about 4 feet tall (with caps that may slightly exceed that height) and said it was needed for family safety. "The fence would be important for their safety," Owen said, adding he has permitting from the State of Vermont. Zoning Administrator Katie Hill clarified the matter required site-plan review under the town bylaw rather than a conditional-use hearing because of potential impacts on neighbors' views.
The board reviewed a neighbor's photo documenting visual impacts and also received a letter of support from the same neighbor. After brief discussion there were no public objections. Bob Beach moved to close the public hearing; Diane Nadon seconded and the motion carried. Beach then moved to approve the permit, Nadon seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
The permit approval includes the usual site-plan review condition language; no additional enforcement conditions were specified on the record. The decision followed standard municipal review procedures and the applicant noted applicable state permitting was in place.
