Resident urges Fayston Planning Commission to begin Town Plan rewrite

During public comment at the Jan. 13 meeting, longtime resident and former Planning Commission member Carol Chamberlain urged the commission to begin work on a Town Plan update and to add an explicit public-comments section to future agendas. Chamberlain said a rewrite could take two-and-a-half to three years and encouraged commissioners to "start educating ourselves about what's needed to get a town plan rewrite in place."

Commissioners responded by naming topics they would like to see addressed in a future plan—protecting the environment in relation to floods, housing, and recreation—and noted that forthcoming regulatory work (for example, trails and resilience measures) should be discussed within the Town Plan context. The commission noted the need to scope resilience work after the July 2024 flooding events.
