Mayor: audit complete; county extends grant deadline to support sewer extension

Mayor Kennedy Horstman reported that the city audit has been completed and will be presented to the council after review by the Finance and Personnel Legislative Commission. She also noted that Finance Director Wanda Grone’s last day with the city will be Oct. 15.
Horstman said Island County Commissioners extended the deadline for the Island County Rural Economic Development Funds grant to Dec. 31, 2025. The extension will allow Langley to use LIP funding to support a sewer extension to Decker and Furman and parts of Edgecliff. Council did not take formal action on the grant during the meeting; the extension was reported as part of the mayor’s updates.
