Council tables decision to relocate Potential Growth Area after planning overlay briefing

Councilmembers indicated they would come prepared to the next meeting with alternative proposals for how the Potential Growth Area should be designated or relocated.
The action pauses any immediate change to the map for the Joint Planning Overlay and gives councilmembers additional time to review options and potential community impacts. The city’s planning director framed the discussion as part of Island County’s process around joint planning outside the Urban Growth Area and presented three options for council consideration.
