The county accepted recommendations from the hotel‑occupancy tax (HOT) fund committee and approved awards to support three 2027 events. The HOT committee — which included Lindsey Davis, Amy Turner, John Lorine and staff — recommended $25,000 for Texas Gate (a rock festival), up to $7,500 for the Johnny Eckle Memorial Rodeo and $8,500 for NerdCon; the court approved the allocations.
The HOT committee chair said applications were due June 1 and noted that the recommendations were made after reviewing the proposals. Commissioners moved and approved the awards during the meeting.
