North Aurora residents call for task force and state help on Aurora Avenue violence

Wallach said more than 60% of shootings in the corridor were linked to prostitution in local data. Peter Orr, representing neighbors along Aurora, said barriers installed at residential intersections are protecting homes but displacing criminal activity to other blocks and called the prostitution on Aurora Avenue North "undeniably a human trafficking issue. Full stop."
Residents urged a multi-pronged approach: a task force focused on Aurora, a satellite precinct on 97th and Aurora, funding for 24/7 recovery services for trafficking survivors, and a dedicated prosecutor. Committee members and presenters acknowledged the pattern and discussed targeted enforcement and support services as necessary measures.
