Commissioners press IDA for budget detail; Wells cites spending and seeks more oversight

At the workshop, the commissioner who introduced the resolution reiterated that his concern centers on how funds have been spent and what the county has to show for the money. "My concern is the amount of money that's been spent and what we have to show for it," he said, citing line items such as salaries, legal expenses and an annual meeting budget.
Kristen Chapman and other development-group staff responded with budget-level clarifications, reporting rental income figures and explaining transfers to the EDC. Grimsley offered to sit with commissioners for a detailed walkthrough of the IDA and EDC budgets, noting the organization recently introduced a controller and changed reporting practices to show year-to-date spending. Several commissioners asked for clearer, project-based updates at future monthly meetings; the board did not vote and will continue discussion next week.
