Sheriff's Office wins competitive grant; board approves related 911 and JAG funding

Commissioner Flores moved to accept a State of Florida prepaid next-generation 911 grant (S27-25-7-16) in the amount of $359,841.42 authorizing signatures and expenditure; the motion passed unanimously. Separately, the board ratified the FDLE JAG 2024 direct grant application for $3,174 (no match) used for law-enforcement taser purchases, also by unanimous vote.
"Out of 37, only 4 were awarded, and we are one of the 4," Michelle McCreery said, asking the board to accept the grant agreement. The board authorized the county manager or chair to sign documents and expend funds as provided for in the grants.
