Commission approves management agreement leasing liquor license to the Felix through 2031

The Hammond Redevelopment Commission approved a management agreement allowing Macho and Company LLC, doing business as the Felix, to lease a 1–3 way liquor license from the commission and operate a speakeasy-style buildout adjacent to an existing coffee business.
Staff said the commission received five proposals when it put its 1–3 way liquor license out to bid and that Eats a Coffee (doing business as the Felix) won the process. Under the management agreement the operator will lease the license for $1,000 per month until 2031, at which time the operator has an option to purchase the license for $10,000. "They will lease it from us for an extended period at $1,000 a month until 2031, and at that time they have an option to then purchase the liquor license at $10,000," staff said.
Commissioners expressed support for the commitment to 2031 and approved the management agreement by roll call (5–0). Staff said the operator will proceed to the next ATC hearing and apply for the liquor license at that board meeting.
