CVRPC update: BEGAP grant assistance for flood-impacted farms, municipal mutual-aid proposal explained

CVRPC liaison Andrew McNealus told Fayston planners that CVEDC will provide statewide technical assistance for the BEGAP grant to help businesses and farms damaged by 2023–24 flooding (deadline Nov. 15), and introduced a draft public-works mutual aid agreement to streamline equipment sharing for emergencies.
At the Oct. 14 meeting Andrew McNealus reported that CVEDC has been named the statewide technical assistance provider for the BEGAP grant to support businesses and farms affected by 2023–24 flooding and encouraged any local farms with 2024 physical damage to apply before the Nov. 15 deadline.
Andrew also said municipal dues had increased by about 4% and described a draft public-works mutual-aid agreement requested by REMC to allow municipalities to share equipment and assets in emergencies; the agreement would supply paperwork towns could use when requesting FEMA assistance for borrowed equipment. He presented the draft as an introductory item for review; commissioners discussed its public-works focus relative to existing fire mutual-aid arrangements.
The commission did not take formal action on the mutual-aid agreement at the meeting, but members were informed of the BEGAP assistance availability and the municipal paperwork proposal.
