Rutland region recruitment program gives yearly update; asks Middletown Springs to continue funding and provide a local ‘concierge’

Olivia Foxbaum, communications and marketing manager for the Chamber of Economic Development, Rutland Region, briefed the board on the county‑level Real Rutland relocation and marketing initiative and asked Middletown Springs to continue its annual support. "As of 2021, we have had 133 people move here through program. Just this year alone, there have been 24 people and 13 families," Foxbaum said, describing the program's placement and outreach work.
Foxbaum said program funding comes from businesses and towns and that last year the town contribution ran about the same as before (noted in materials). She asked the Selectboard to consider continuing the town's appropriation (it can be placed in the budget at the same amount as the prior year so it does not require a separate vote). The presenters also asked the town to nominate a local "concierge" volunteer who would help match prospective new residents with local contacts; the board agreed that such a note could be included in the town newsletter and that the Chamber would supply copy and calendar listings.
The board thanked the presenters and agreed to accept the written materials for the budget file and to consider continuing the appropriation in the draft budget process.
