At the June 29 special meeting, Aleta Bergsman, owner of the Ludlow Tavern and a resident at 23 Butler Street, asked the council to develop a five- to ten-year master plan and to prioritize reinvestment in the business district.
"I would like to see taxpayers’ money reinvested in the business district," Bergsman said, arguing that a longer-term plan would help local businesses and guide municipal improvements. Her comment came during a public-comment period in which several residents urged increased investment in city services and facilities.
Council did not take formal action on a master plan at the meeting; the remarks were recorded as part of the public-comment portion and will inform future deliberations about economic development.
No vote or staff directive on creating a master plan was made at the June 29 session.
