District reports new bus arrival, gym refinishing and summer maintenance updates

Superintendent Jerrad Jeske told the board that insurance costs are anticipated to increase by about 9% and that "our new school bus has arrived. It's impressive to see the updates and improvements made over just the last two years," according to the meeting minutes.
Jeske said maintenance work over the summer had been minimal overall and that the EJH gym and the old high-school gym floors were refinished. Board member Mark Bullock highlighted the advantages of switching to water-based floor refinishing, citing lower cost, quicker repairs and less yellowing over time. Classrooms, the commons and the elementary cafeteria were repainted, and the district addressed exterior wall paint adhesion issues with additional All Wall work after consulting block-construction specifications.
The board also heard that Halme Construction will be asked to bid on the baseball-field project, and that two additional elementary doors received doorbell security upgrades. Maintenance staff were publicly thanked during the superintendent's report.
