District Superintendent Jerrad Jeske told the board the wastewater treatment plant project remains on hold after the Department of Ecology declined the district's request to temporarily bypass the system. "The Department of Ecology did not approve our request to temporarily bypass the system, even though it would have only been during a period when no one was on campus," the minutes record.
As an interim approach, Jeske said the district now plans to collect wastewater in a truck and haul it away as needed. Board member Mark Bullock offered to assist with securing a truck to implement that plan. The minutes do not record a budget allocation or timeline for the truck-hauling arrangement, and do not indicate when or whether Ecology will reconsider the earlier request.
The board also discussed related maintenance and bid work for outdoor athletic surfaces elsewhere on campus; Halme Construction will be asked to provide a bid for baseball-field work.
