Superintendent outlines fiber upgrade, wastewater inspection and pending audit costs

Superintendent Jerrad Jeske told the board the district will install a fiber-optic line alongside the high school this summer to move from satellite service to a hard-wired connection, which he said should substantially improve internet stability and offer greater speeds. Jeske reported the district received a bid for six vape detectors for the high school totaling $19,652.58 and will solicit additional bids as staff pursue possible grant funding.
Jeske also said the district plans a summer inspection of its wastewater treatment plant; pumping and inspection were projected at approximately $12,000. He noted an engineer advised evaluating refurbishment because a replacement epoxy-coated steel package from Fluidyn would cost about $435,000 for delivery only. The superintendent flagged an upcoming Accountability Audit (Sept. 1, 2022–Aug. 31, 2024) with a projected cost of $19,000 and listed focus areas including accounts payable, restricted funds use, supplemental contracts, open public meetings compliance, financial condition and apportionment.
