Becky from UDOT told the Summit County Public Art Advisory Board that the Kimbell Junction transportation project is funded at roughly $50 million, covering engineering, right-of-way acquisition, and core construction work. "I just have the money, that's been funded at 50,000,000 for this entire project that includes engineering cost, buying all the right away, and then the construction of it," she said, adding that anything beyond standard pedestrian components would be a local responsibility.
County staff clarified that the $50 million figure covers the overall junction project (road widening, turn lanes and related infrastructure), not solely the pedestrian crossing, and that UDOT would pay for a standard pedestrian overpass while local governments would need to provide additional funds for enhanced railings, lighting, benches, or art-specific installations. At the meeting staff said the amount available for aesthetic enhancements has not been determined, and the advisory board's input will help scope costs and priorities for any locally funded work.
