Council discusses revising alcoholic beverage license fees; possibility of retroactive credits considered

Councilmember Meagan Guthrie presented a comparison of Ludlow’s alcoholic beverage license fees with neighboring cities and proposed lowering the special temporary license to approximately $50 for businesses already licensed in Ludlow. She also urged updating fee schedules that should have been corrected in 2017.
Mayor Sarah Thompson suggested the council consider crediting businesses for overcharges for a two-to-five-year period, and discussed adding new license types; City Attorney Michelle Eviston cautioned that the city can change alcoholic beverage license fees only every five years. No ordinance or fee schedule vote occurred at this meeting.
