City Administrative Officer Scott Smith told the council on Oct. 9 that staff is proposing a beautification reimbursement program to encourage downtown window boxes and seasonal plantings, offering reimbursements of $150–$200 in spring and fall to participating property owners who maintain the plantings.
Mr. Smith also proposed converting the community center coordinator position from part-time to full-time with an annual salary of $52,000 and expanding duties to include managing the City’s social media accounts and coordinating events; he said the salary change would require an update to the city pay scale. The council was advised that a new sound system for the council chambers is estimated to cost about $30,000. Mr. Smith indicated these items will be reviewed with the Finance Committee and placed on future agendas for approval and any necessary budget amendments.
