The board considered a series of late rental-registration hearings and took waivers for several property owners.
Francisco Salas appeared and apologized for missing registration deadlines for three properties (4924 Elm, 4425 Elm, and 6258 Van Buren), saying family illness caused the oversight. A board member moved to waive the late fees for the three properties; the motion was seconded and the board voted "aye." Salas was told he could remain after the meeting to get paperwork and pay the fees without late penalties.
For 1244 Indiana, Veronica Resendiz Barriga said she had purchased the property on 08/14/2025 and did not know she needed to register it. Staff noted there would be no prior appeals and that waiving the late fee would be contingent on removing the current homestead exemption; the board approved a conditional waiver requiring removal of the homestead exemption and staff will complete partial paperwork.
