County department heads report on jail counts, immunizations, mining tour and roadwork

At the July 21 meeting, multiple department heads provided operational updates. Chief Deputy Brad Siegfried reported the jail had 96 individuals in custody that morning, with 22 held out of county and five transported to Oakdale. Local Health Director Christa Poggemiller reminded the public of immunization clinics scheduled for the upcoming school year and thanked donors to the 2x4 for Veterans project.
Emergency Management Director Shannon Prado said she is working on grant applications and had toured a bitcoin-mining facility with Auditor Sara Doty and the Burlington Fire Department. County Engineer Brian Carter reported planned traffic-control changes at South Gear and West Avenue (conversion to a four-way stop) and ongoing concrete patching amid heat-related pavement issues. Auditor Sara Doty also announced a job posting for a Real Estate Administrative Assistant with applications accepted through August 11, 2026.
