The Weathersfield Parks & Recreation Commission walked through plans for the upcoming Recreation Festival, including ice cream vendors, a tent, music, a community kickball game, a dunk tank and face painting. Julia Gumbart will order pinnies and pursue volunteer waivers; Mary Cormier will handle face painting and temporary tattoos; Olivia Savage will secure prizes and help coordinate supplies.
Sponsorship prospects include 802 Credit Union, ARC Mechanical and TwinLine/Touch-a-Truck; GMC Springfield declined this year but will be re-contacted. Logistics tasks assigned included obtaining a large gathering permit (Ms. Gumbart and Mr. Stapleton), a parking/traffic plan (Mr. Stapleton), trash coordination (Mr. Stapleton and Tyler) and vendor outreach (Ms. Gumbart). Marketing will be done on Front Porch Forum and Facebook; Mr. Bunnell and Ms. Bearse will coordinate social posts and yard sign updates. The commission also decided to seek three to five $25 donations to help cover small expenses.
