Des Moines County adopted Resolution #2026-048 on July 21, 2026, authorizing J&M Displays Inc. to conduct fireworks displays in the county's unincorporated areas for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The resolution notes that J&M Displays uses shooters trained in the American Pyrotechnics Association program and that authorizations require a permit application submitted at least 48 hours before a display and no objection by an area fire chief or a Des Moines County Supervisor.
Assistant County Attorney Trent Henkelvig presented the resolution and recommended approval. Chair Shane McCampbell moved to approve and Vice Chair Tom Broeker seconded; the resolution passed unanimously. The fiscal-year period in the adopted resolution runs from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 (corrected to the standard calendar end date).
