County approves $12,500 actuarial study to set 2025 health-plan targets

The Saint Joseph County Board of Commissioners voted to approve an actuarial services proposal from Gallagher to produce the annual study that sets target spend for the county health plan for the 2025 plan year.
A presenter described the work as routine and necessary to weight discounts and benefits under the county’s current accountable-care organization arrangement with SelectHealth. "This is a proposal for that to be completed for the 2025 plan year at a fee of $12,500," the presenter said. Commissioners questioned how the fee compared with prior years; the presenter replied it had increased but he did not have prior-year figures on hand and offered to provide them later.
The approval was made by motion with no recorded opposition. County officials said the study helps the county calibrate benefit levels and vendor discounts ahead of plan-year budgeting.
