Sheriff announces 10-member Special Response Team after high-risk domestic call

A representative of the Hardin County Sheriff's Office announced that the department has established a 10-member Special Response Team (SRT) to respond to high-risk incidents and described a recent activation of that team following a July 27 domestic incident. The speaker said the unit completed advanced tactical training at a regional facility and successfully executed a search warrant after coordination with the Kentucky State Police and the county attorney’s office.

"I'm pleased to announce that we have established a special response team, our SRT, consisting of 10 specially selected deputies," the speaker said, describing the team’s training and recent deployment. The speaker recounted that deputies responding to a domestic disturbance found a woman with a gunshot wound; deputies moved the woman and her children to safety and provided treatment before EMS transported the victim to a hospital. After securing warrants and activating the SRT, deputies executed a planned entry and located a deceased suspect; the speaker said the death appeared to be self-inflicted and no deputies or additional civilians were injured.

The speaker thanked the county attorney, Jenny Oldham, for her assistance in obtaining warrants and asked the court to recognize the SRT members for their training and professionalism. Magistrates offered public praise for the response and for the safety of residents involved.
