Board hears progress report on large in-house disc-golf course; staff eyes pro tour

The board heard plans to attract higher-level events: staff said they will meet with the pro-tour director to discuss hosting options and listed infrastructure requirements such as a direct internet hard line for streaming, restrooms, spectator capacity and course viewing lines. Staff estimated a pro event could bring about 5,000 people and generate significant economic impact; sponsors already committed include Jones and Sons, the CVB, Duke Energy and local volunteers such as Aaron Warner and his family. Staff emphasized remaining construction tasks — pouring pads, renting buggies, and continuing tree removal and clearing — before the course could be proven for a tour.
