URA extends exclusive negotiations with Starr Corporation to Dec. 7, 2026

The Jerome Urban Renewal Agency voted unanimously to approve Resolution No. 05‑26, authorizing a first amendment to the Agreement to Negotiate Exclusively with Starr Corporation that extends the negotiation period an additional 90 days, from September 8 to December 7, 2026.
City Administrator Mike Williams told the board that Starr representative Mr. Arrington has a verbal agreement with the owner of the building west of lots 1–9 (the former Chevrolet garage) and recommended the extension so the developer can incorporate the parcel into the design. Williams said the acquisition could allow more parking and expansion of a proposed public plaza. Mr. Arrington stated that "the nature of the project would remain unchanged; the scope of the project would be expanded to include the new parcel and provide a gathering place for the community." The board also exercised its discretion under the agreement and did not require an extension fee that the contract allows.
