"All positions that are needed and critical at this point," the staff member said. The presenter said those roles support landlord outreach, aftercare to avoid recidivism, and day-to-day management of people in temporary hotel placement.
Committee members pressed for data showing the impact of the staffing. The staff member said Washington County's measured homelessness rate fell from about 41 individuals per 10,000 a year ago to the low single digits in the most recent tally, crediting a focused homeless team and targeted use of a family-centered case management grant. The chair asked staff to provide monthly statistics for continued oversight.
The committee treated the staffing request as a referral; a motion to move the matter to the personnel committee was made and seconded, and the chair recorded a voice vote sending the request forward. The referral means a fuller budget and personnel analysis will be considered before any formal hires or amendments to county staffing take effect.
