MPO staff announces traffic counts, grant receipt and upcoming Suncoast Parkway ribbon cutting

Bob Esposito, MPO staff, updated the board on recent administrative and operational matters. He said the transportation-disadvantaged planning grant agreements had been received from the Florida Commission for Transportation on July 25 and entered into the record. At a request from a commissioner, staff will issue a purchase order to conduct traffic counts at 71 locations across Citrus County.
Esposito also described small-project opportunities (under $1,000,000) that the MPO is seeking to advance, updates to State Road 50 work and repaving/striping follow-ups, and that a ribbon cutting for the new Suncoast Parkway extension is being scheduled. He asked members to consider naming alternates for related regional bodies to ensure continued representation at meetings.
The board agreed to allow staff to follow up on these operational items; there were no formal votes recorded on the updates beyond consensus to proceed.
