VAB appoints special magistrates, schedules tentative final meeting date

Hernando County's Value Adjustment Board approved the appointment of special magistrates for the coming year and set a tentative final meeting date of March 20, 2026.
Counsel read the slate of magistrates and noted two new applicants present at the meeting. "We do have 2 new applicants, one of which is joining us today, Miss Shelley Kennedy... we have Joseph Haynes Davis. He will be our attorney, magistrate," counsel said, and advised that only compliance checklists were included in the packet to keep the agenda slim; full applications are public records and available on request.
The board approved appointments by motion, and counsel noted there is no cost to the VAB to appoint magistrates until they hold hearings. The office will distribute orientation/recap packets rather than hold an in-person orientation and will ensure magistrates complete Department of Revenue training once that training is released.
