Nordstrom Silo site: staff outline funding sources and possible complications if historical designation is granted

Bob Woods, Open Space and Trails Manager, updated OSTAC on the Nordstrom Silo site, describing potential funding options for site work as the Open Space fund, contributions from the adjacent developer, and a possible grant. When asked whether staff would remove the silo if the grant is not awarded, Bob said, “Of course we are hoping for the grant to be successful.” He added that a historical designation could complicate any removal or major alteration if the grant is not secured.
Committee members raised questions about trail access to the silo. Bob said adjacent development (Baseline) is building nearby trails and a new sidewalk along W. 160th Ave., which could enable a future trail connection to the silo site. Kristan noted the site is several acres and that OSTAC will revisit the project as staff develop designs and funding strategies; after-meeting information lists the silo site as 3.16 acres and total nearby CCOB property as 14.89 acres including a pond.
