Selectboard approves purchase of Semiquincentennial time capsule, plans public display July 4

Town Administrator Matt Frederick updated the Selectboard on the Semiquincentennial Time Capsule project honoring the United States’ 250th anniversary. The Bicentennial time capsule from 1976 will be unearthed at 8:30 a.m. on July 4 at Albert Bridge School (ABS), its contents exhibited on the Story Memorial Hall stage, and then given to the West Windsor Historical Society.
The new Semiquincentennial capsule will also be displayed at the America 250 Exhibit to allow final submissions before burial at the same ABS location at the conclusion of July 4 festivities. The board approved purchasing a time capsule not to exceed $250 from the General Fund’s Selectboard Expenses line; staff (Amy Yates, Matt Frederick, and Highway Foreman Mike Spackman) will finalize the container selection (options discussed included another electrical box or various stainless-steel cylinders). Residents may submit items by contacting the Town Administrator or by dropping them at Town Hall.
