Volunteer-led flag project will place American flags on West Windsor covered bridges for July 4

The Vermont Covered Bridge Society (VCBS) is organizing a 250th Anniversary Flag Project to place American flags on covered bridges for July 4. VCBS Events Coordinator Gary Briggs said the initiative already covers 85 of 87 bridges and offered to donate solar lights so flags at Best and Bowers covered bridges in West Windsor can remain illuminated to comply with the U.S. Flag Code.
Selectboard Chair Mark Higgins volunteered to lead the local installation effort and Town Administrator Matt Frederick will coordinate the solar lighting donation with Gary Briggs in advance of July 4. The Selectboard discussed lighting, maintenance, and responsibility for installation and upkeep during the meeting.
