Zoning administrator to step down; Selectboard explores shared or contracted options

West Windsor’s Zoning Administrator, Deb Shearer, told the Selectboard she plans to step down at the end of 2026. Jason Rasmussen of the Mount Ascutney Regional Commission described options including a shared ZA across municipalities or contracting MARC to provide zoning services. Deb cautioned that sharing might be difficult because West Windsor has not digitized land records, and much zoning work requires in-office access to paper files.
Selectboard members discussed desired skillsets for a successor and Mark Higgins said he initially prefers a West Windsor-specific ZA. The board left the matter open for further discussion and invited interested residents to contact Deb at zoning@westwindsorvt.org.
