Selectboard signs on to VTrans grant for pedestrian bridge scoping and Trail to Town study

The Town of West Windsor on June 8 authorized the Mount Ascutney Regional Commission to submit a VTrans Bicycle and Pedestrian Grant application seeking $82,500.00 to fund a scoping study for replacement of the pedestrian bridge behind the fire station and improvements to the Trail to Town that connects the mountain to the village. Otis Ellms-Munroe of MARC presented the grant application and a draft letter of support and noted the application includes a 20% local match.
Otis also said that a separate proposed crosswalk project could not proceed in this grant cycle because the State requires any crosswalk across a state highway to connect to a sidewalk on both sides. The Selectboard authorized Mark Higgins to execute the Letter of Support and authorized MARC to submit the application on the Town’s behalf.
